Born in England, educated in Scotland and at Columbia University in New York, Alwyn Trigg-Smith honed his talents at two noted international firms in California and Australia before opening his own practice more than two decades ago. He moved his firm to the islands in the late 1980's. Today Trigg, as he is known to his many satisfied clients, is recognized as one of Hawaii's finest architects. Skilled at integrating the visions of discriminating clients from around the world into a diversity of homes in the islands and elsewhere, he is noted for combining the best of contemporary international design motifs with touches of a distinctive tropical style. The premiere dwellings, created in tandem with his clients, have varied from the upgrading of a vintage beach cottage, to a complete refurbishing of a world class hotel, and also to the construction of a multi-dwelling tropical estate in a newer paradisal setting.
