This 7,500 square-foot house, sited just below Diamond Head crater, commands dramatic, sweeping views from the ocean, towards Koko Head and over to the mountain ranges.

The upper level - the main living level - of an existing structure was fully demolished to allow greater freedom in design. The lower level was gutted so that the footprint of the original four-car garage was maintained and a new entry positioned. A severe height restriction dictated this flat roofed design and great rim views directed the positioning of the main room spaces.

The new home features an elevator, a solar powered high-velocity air-conditioning system (the flat roof can accommodate 100 solar panels), a tatami room for tea ceremonies and a spirited, winding octagonal staircase!
